This is a simple frequently asked questions page that explains what we do, in question and answer format.

Q: What do you do?

We help residential tenants and small mom and pop merchants who are at risk of losing their homes or places of businesses.

Q: What does this actually mean?

Our focus is on mediating current or potential disputes. Often small problems and disputes can be remedied before they become big problems.

Q: Do you have an example?

Yes, a typical matter might involve a tenant who has been facing problems with their landlord or co-tenants. We can often mediate these problems before they become large problems.

Q: Aren’t I protected right now with the rent moratorium?

Yes and no. You are generally protected in most cases, but you still need to do certain things in order to assert that new right. If you contact us at info@lptlc.org, we can help you navigate the process.

Q: I am a merchant, what can you do for me?

Same thing we do for residential tenants. We can help you negotiate leases, we can help you if you are facing eviction. We can even help you in other ways too. Just contact us and we will see what we can do for you.

Q: I am a commercial tenant, what is the process for the rent moratorium?

It’s more complicated than the residential moratorium. Contact us and we can walk you through it.

Q: I am not sure my matter falls into what you do. What do I do?

Contact us. Even if we can’t help you, we can do a warm-hand-off to someone who can.
